About Carvoeiro: Carvoeiro, also known as Praia do Carvoeiro, is a Portuguese village in the municipality of Lagoa, with 11.12 km² of area and 2 721 inhabitants (2011). Its population density was 233.4 h/km².

It was elevated to the village on April 19, 2001 receiving the name of Vila de Carvoeiro.[ 3]

It was the headquarters of a parish created on July 11, 1985 by the deannexation of Lagoa[4], a parish that was extinguished in 2013, as part of a national administrative reform, to, together with that of Lagoa, form a new parish called União das Freguesias de Lagoa and Carvoeiro with headquarters in Lagoa.[ 5th]
